AlertIMPORTANT IT Security Alert: Malicious Email Ransomware Attack

Tufts Technology Services (TTS) wants to make you aware that Friday, July 15, we received a number of emails appearing to have originated from Tufts email addresses with attached zip archives that contain files with malicious content.

What You Should Do
There are two key things you can do to protect your machine, files, and potentially broader impacts to resources at Tufts:

  1. DELETE suspicious email messages immediately
  2. If not already in place, install and use the most current version of antivirus software

NOTE: If you click on the attachment and run it, the content will attempt to start encrypting your data and hold it for ransom.

If you have any concerns or think you were impacted by a phishing attack or this malware attack (software that is intended to damage or disable computers and computer systems), please contact the TTS Service Desk at (617) 627-3376.

Find more information at Email Security Tips.
